Lead Registered Nurse (RN) (Temporary Full-time)
We are looking for Registered Nurse (RN) to join our school community as our Temporary Health Services Coordinator. This position will start mid February 2025 and last a minimum of six weeks.

Position Overview:
The Lead Registered Nurse (RN) will oversee the health and wellness of students and staff at the boarding school. This individual will manage the daily operations of the health center, provide direct nursing care, and lead a team of healthcare professionals to ensure the safety and well-being of the school community. The role involves collaboration with faculty, staff, parents, and external medical providers to address health-related needs effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Health Center Leadership:
- Oversee the operation of the school health center, ensuring compliance with state and federal health regulations.
- Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to nursing staff and other healthcare personnel.
- Develop and implement health policies, procedures, and protocols in alignment with best practices.
- Student Health Management:
- Provide direct nursing care to students, including assessment, treatment, and follow-up for illnesses, injuries, and chronic conditions.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records for all students in compliance with privacy regulations.
- Develop and monitor individual care plans for students with specific health needs.
- Emergency Response:
- Act as the primary responder to medical emergencies on campus.
- Train staff and faculty on first aid and emergency protocols.
- Maintain and monitor emergency medical supplies and equipment.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with school administrators, counselors, and faculty to support students’ overall well-being.
- Communicate with parents and guardians regarding students’ health concerns or medical needs.
- Coordinate with local healthcare providers and hospitals for referrals and consultations.
- Health Education and Promotion:
- Develop and deliver health education programs for students, staff, and parents.
- Promote wellness initiatives, such as mental health awareness, nutrition, and preventative care.
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with immunization requirements and manage school-wide vaccination records.
- Prepare and submit required health-related reports to regulatory agencies.
- Stay updated on public health issues and implement necessary protocols, such as during outbreaks.
Qualifications:
- Current, unrestricted RN license in Michigan.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience preferably.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting is highly desirable.
- Certification in CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification is a plus.
