The Leelanau School

MathThe Leelanau School is a college preparatory boarding high school that ignites a passion for learning, where students thrive by celebrating each other’s unique learning styles in a culture of acceptance, ultimately leading to successful and meaningful lives. Our rigorous academic program places 100% of our graduates in excellent colleges and universities.

The Leelanau School is for Students who Learn Differently

We know what it means to learn differently. Our faculty and staff are experts in helping our students find and develop their path back to academic — and life — success. At The Leelanau School, we strive to provide a supportive environment for our students inside and out of the classroom. We have been ranked one of the top 20 private schools in the US based on student-teacher ratios.

Strength-based Teaching

How do we know what a student’s strengths are? We ask. The low student-teacher ratio at The Leelanau School allows us to make time to help our students get to know themselves better. We help them discover their strengths, how they learn best and help them imagine their own potential. We then present them opportunities to succeed and push past their limitations.

Student Life & Community

Crystal RiverWe’re fortunate to have our campus on the shore of Lake Michigan with the Crystal River flowing through our campus. We have a large student greenhouse that staff and students utilize for supplementing the campus cafe, but also to teach life skills. Our campus is in the small town of Glen Arbor and located directly north of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, which was voted the most beautiful place in America.

Who The Leelanau School Serves

  • Once enjoyed school and over the years have lost confidence or passion for learning and want the “aha” feeling back.
